Comparative study of obstetrical complications between primigravida and multigravida

Objective: to determine the frequency of obstetrical complications in pregnant women presenting to indoor department and to compare the frequency of obstetrical complications in females with primigravida and multigravida
Methodology: This Cross sectional descriptive was performed in the department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of Nishtar Hospital, Multan from August 2023 to July 2024. A total of 493 women of primigravida/multigravida with singleton pregnancy were allowed to enter in study. All patients were followed up till delivery and obstetrical complications were noted.
Results: Pregnancy induced hypertension was observed in 14.6% patients, fetal distress 10.8%, malposition 12%, preterm labor 11% and oligohydramnios was 9.5%. Pregnancy induced hypertension was 16.8% in Primigravida and 11.6% in multigravida women (p=0.107), Fetal Distress was 12.9% in Primigravida and 7.7% in Multigravida women (p=0.065), Malposition was 17.1% in Primigravida and 4.8% in Multigravida women (p=0.000), Preterm Labor was 17.5% in Primigravida and 1.9% in Multigravida women (p=0.000) and Oligohydramnios was 7% in Primigravida and 13% in Multigravida women (p=0.024).
Conclusion: Results of our study reveal that most of females reported obstetric problems.
