Frequency of Granulomatous Invasive Fungal Sinusitis in Patients with Clinical Suspicion of Chronic Fungal Rhinosinusitis

Objective: To determine the frequency of granulomatous invasive fungal sinusitis in patients with clinical suspicion of chronic fungal rhinosinusitis.
Methodology: Descriptive cross sectional study was conducted at Department of ENT, Nishtar Hospital, Multan, from 1st January 2022 to 1st July 2023. A total of 81 patients took part in the study after giving informed consent. All the data including demographic variables as well as frequency of granulomatous invasive fungal sinusitis was collected in the form of a performed performa by the researcher himself.
Results: Eighty one patients with clinical suspicion of chronic fungal rhinosinusitis, who met inclusion and exclusion criteria, were included in our study, both genders. Granulomatous invasive fungal sinusitis was present in 29.6% of our study cases, while absent in 70.4%.
Conclusion: The results of our study show that granulomatous invasive fungal sinusitis is highly frequent among the patients with clinical suspicion of chronic fungal rhinosinusitis.
